If that's the case, it must have fallen dormant........ until Ron Rubin and Alan Davis spearheaded it's reawakening. I do know definitively that we wrote and approved by-laws in 78.

The alliance was in fact not founded until ca. 1978. How do I know? I was on the founding board with Ron Rubin, Alan Davis, Tom Sonneborn and others. Our first meeting was at the Summit Lodge in Killington. That meeting was spearheaded by Ron, who was at the Dept. of Ed. at the time, and by Alan, who was at Vermont Council on the Arts.
I've just been on the job for a month as the new Executive Director of VAAE. We have not yet scheduled a conference, and are talking as an organization about whether we should be re-thinking how we address the goal of sharing resources and providing professional development. We're looking at how many districts are keeping professional development as an internal function, thus limiting resources (and attendance) for a conference such as ours. We are wondering if there might be other effective ways to provide what we've done in the past through the conference.

If you'd like to let us know your thoughts about this, we will include your comments in our discussions.

Thanks,
Janet Van Fleet
